Terms of Use

Last updated: September 24, 2026. These terms are the license agreement for the PodEditor app (the “App”). By downloading, installing or using it you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the App. PodEditor is operated by Brandon Whichard (“we”, “us”).

The license

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on Apple-branded Macs that you own or control, for your own work and your clients' work. The App is licensed, not sold. We keep all rights in it that these terms don't grant you.

You agree not to:

• copy, sell, rent, lend, sublicense or redistribute the App;
• reverse engineer, decompile or modify the App, except to the extent the law gives you that right regardless of this restriction, or where a third-party license below gives you it;
• remove, bypass or tamper with the App's subscription checks or its expiration date on beta builds.

What is free and what needs a subscription

Without an active subscription you can still open your projects, play them, edit them and save them. Exporting (mixes, single tracks and multitrack stems) and recording need an active subscription or free trial. We don't hold your projects hostage: a lapsed subscription never stops you from opening or saving your own work, and the files you have already exported are yours to keep and use.

Subscription, billing and free trial

The PodEditor subscription is auto-renewing, offered monthly or yearly. Its exact price and billing period are shown in the App before you subscribe, in your local currency, and are the ones that apply to you.

• Free trial. New subscribers may get a 14-day free trial. Each Apple Account is eligible once per subscription group. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription during it. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, you are charged for the first period.
• Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase, or when the free trial ends.
• Renewal. The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends, at the price then in effect. If the price changes, Apple tells you and, where required, asks for your consent first.
• Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple Account settings (App Store ▸ your name ▸ Subscriptions, or in the App under Settings ▸ Account ▸ Manage Subscription). Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.
• Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple, not by us, so refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• Restoring. If you reinstall the App or move to a new Mac, use Settings ▸ Account ▸ Restore Purchases.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we do and don't collect: payment details go to Apple and never to us.

Your work

You own your projects, recordings, imported audio and exports. We claim no rights in them and the App doesn't upload them anywhere. You are responsible for having the rights to anything you import, record or publish, and for keeping backups. PodEditor edits non-destructively and keeps recovery snapshots, but no software can promise you never lose a file.

The App can host third-party Audio Unit plug-ins you install. Those plug-ins are other people's software, run inside the App, and are governed by their own licenses. We aren't responsible for them.

Beta and pre-release builds

Builds distributed as a beta, whether through TestFlight or as a direct download from podeditor.app, are pre-release software. They may crash, misbehave or lose work, and they expire: a direct-download beta stops launching on the date shown in About PodEditor, and a TestFlight build stops launching 90 days after it was uploaded. Download the latest build to keep working. Beta features may change or be removed before a public release.

Third-party software

PodEditor includes the following open-source components, and their notices apply to those components only.

LAME MP3 encoder (libmp3lame)

PodEditor uses the LAME MP3 encoder, developed by the LAME project (lame.sourceforge.io), to create MP3 files. LAME is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). PodEditor ships it unmodified, as a separate dynamic library (libmp3lame.dylib) inside the app bundle, and does not link it statically. Nothing in these terms restricts the rights the LGPL gives you in that library, including the right to obtain its source code from the LAME project.

libebur128

PodEditor uses libebur128 to measure loudness. It is used under the MIT license:

No warranty

To the fullest extent the law allows, the App is provided “as is” and “as available”, with all faults and without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We don't promise the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its audio processing, loudness measurement or exported files will suit any particular use or platform specification. Check your own exports before you publish them.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data or lost work, arising from your use of the App, even if we were told they were possible. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months before the claim arose, or US$50 if you paid nothing. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you, and nothing here limits liability that the law says can't be limited.

Ending these terms

You can stop at any time by deleting the App and cancelling your subscription. We may end your license if you break these terms. On ending, you must stop using the App. Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, third-party notices, no warranty and the limit of liability) do.

Apple's required terms

If you got the App from the Mac App Store or TestFlight, this section also applies, and prevails if it conflicts with anything above.

• Who the agreement is with. These terms are between you and us only, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the App and its content. They are in addition to Apple's Media Services Terms and the usage rules in it.
• Scope of license. The license is limited to a non-transferable license to use the App on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, as the App Store Terms of Service permit.
• Maintenance and support. We alone are responsible for any maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to provide any. Contact us at hello@podeditor.app.
• Warranty. We alone are responsible for any warranty that applies. If the App fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the App to you, if any. To the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the App.
• Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims relating to the App or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
• Intellectual property. If a third party claims the App infringes its intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for investigating, defending and settling the claim.
• Legal compliance. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or designated a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Third-party terms. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the App, for example your internet provider's terms.
• Third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and on your accepting them Apple will have the right to enforce them against you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed. If a change materially affects your rights, we'll tell you in the App or on this page before it takes effect, and continuing to use the App afterwards means you accept the new terms. Changes to the price of a subscription are handled as described above.
